You may be one of those who is having trouble in one area or another trying to resolve who is in control. All of those people fit into one category- they are all HUMAN BEINGS! We were born with a sin nature. All of us have it, whether or not we wanted it. Steppenwolf said we were, "Born to be Wild!" Jesus said something different! Jesus who is God, came to be clothed in human flesh that He might live a sinless, perfect life on earth, in order that He could die on the cross of
Ok, like the title says; let's have a show of hands! Do you believe our Lord is always honest with us? How would you know? Well, I hope your answer is yes on the first question, and "because the Bible tells me" on the second one. In Matthew, God says, "Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away, (Matt 24:35). Now, that's the inalienable truth! When God tells us something, we can count on it. Let me remind you of something you already know, and that is;
For several days the second had on my watch has been acting strangely. Normally, it ticks off the seconds as expected- after all, it is a "second hand". But the last few days, it has been moving in four second intervals instead of one second intervals. What could cause it to do that? Actually, the battery is getting weak. When it weakens, the watch is designed to save energy by not moving the hand as much as normal. I wonder if there are other entities that do the same thing.
Though I have never been in the military, I understand the necessity of remaining cool under fire. If a soldier loses his head under fire, he might also lose his life along with the lives of others. Good soldiers know to listen to the CO for instructions. In Christian life, it is the same. If we break contact with the Commander, we may become confused in the process of life's battles and lose our bearing. The we don't know which way to go...we don't know where right is. It is
The restaurant chain "Bob Evans" once had a logo which was, "down on the farm, we do it right or we just don't do it!" At my home growing up, it was said, "anything worth doing is worth doing right!" These two sentences convey a desire to see to it that whatever we do is done to the best of our ability. God said through Solomon in Ecclesiastes 9:10, "Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither
As I write this at 12:15, about 45 minutes from now, we will baptize our friend Micky (Michael) Meece. Last Sunday he came forth in faith trusting Jesus Christ as his one and only Savior! He is now free! Free from the bondage of sin, free to resist the tempter, free to come into God's throne room at any time for forgiveness and advice! Jesus will set you free too! His mission on earth was and still is to save souls from the penalty of sin. He took our sins upon Himself that w
As I was preparing the message for Sunday morning, the song, "Be Thou Exalted" just popped into my mind. Our Scripture is Isaiah 6:1-8 which is about Isaiah realizing the holiness of God upon His throne in heaven. I believe our Lord sends us messages like this song to go along with the Sunday morning worship service. There are no coincidences with God. In His plan for all life, coincidences wouldn't fit in. Luck has no place in God's perspective. God and only God can put all
