One of Two
The two most attended services of the year- every year, are Christmas and Easter. Since this is Easter weekend, It might be good to speak of Easter for a couple of minutes. As you may be aware, Jesus, the promised Messiah, surprised people when He come to earth. His Jewish society expected Him to come as a conquerer to deliver them from the bondage of submission to Rome. But that was not in His plan. Jesus came to earth, not to rule, but to serve. "whoever wants to become gre
I Love You!
But do we REALLY love each other; or is that just a phrase we say as we are parting for a while? What is "love" anyway? The dictionary defines the word as "an intense feeling of affection." So, when we say we love football, do we feel an affinity to football, or is it just a form of entertainment? How deep is our affection of the game? Would you be willing to demonstrate that love by dying for the game? When The Lord says He love us; does He think of us like we think of footb
Can One Live in a Constant State of Sinfulness and Still Be Saved?
Good question; isn't it? And it's a question people think but don't ask. Many times they are afraid of the answer they might hear. There was a very famous evangelist who had traveled the world preaching the gospel, and he was admired by many- including me. After his death due to cancer, it was discovered that for many years he had been living a secret lifestyle of sexual unfaithfulness. I think many Christians think of Matthew 7:1-3, "“Do not judge, or you too will be judged.
Do We Need Lessons?
I am reading through a book titled, "Love Like That" by Dr. Les Parrott. It is an amazing, eye opening book that addresses the love Jesus has for us. It details several accounts in the life of Jesus while He walk on earth, that frankly, makes me think I may need some lessons in how to be a Christian! Actually, we all have a tendency to want to judge others for their actions while excusing ourselves for our own actions. Then, we also have a tendency to want to criticize others
Is There a Need for Darkness?
For those who plan to do someone else a disfavor, the answer is likely yes, but for those who so not wish to hide their actions, the opposite may be true. Jesus said, "12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life," (John 8:12). Many people don't want their deeds to have the light shown on them. It is a pity that people can't live in the light of Jesus, but instea
Do You Trust God?
I think many people, whether or not they are Christians, just cross their fingers and hope. We don't really have a lock on the concept of faith. In the book of Hebrews, chapter one, we see the definition of faith. "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." If we could see it, faith wouldn't be a factor. Anything concrete is tangible and we can lay our hand on it, so faith is not needed to believe in it. But God isn't someone we can s
Would You Recognize a Friend?
After the crucifixion of Jesus, two of his friends were walking along a road one evening discussing what had happened in Jerusalem. Suddenly, another man joined them. He asked them what they were discussing. They then asked him if he was the only one in Jerusalem who didn't know of the happenings surrounding the crucifixion. Later, he revealed his true identity to them. You might say there is no way you wouldn't have known who Jesus was, but these two didn't recognize him. Le
