What If Today Was Judgement Day?

When we think of Judgement Day, we think of it as being somewhere out there in the future. We really don't consider that thousands of people around the earth will spend their final moments of life on earth today. The next thing they will know is the face of Jesus. Yes; it could happen to you or me today. Isn't it strange that though we know in our minds that what I just described will definitely happen someday, we just don't think it will be one of us today. But for many it will be today.

Ok, so let's think about it for a moment. What if God suddenly said to you today, "Get you things in order because you will die soon!" We read of something like this in the book of Isaiah. " 38 In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah, son of Amoz, went to him and said, “This is what the Lord says: 'Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover,'” (Isaiah 38:1). What would you do right away? Would you ask forgiveness of the sin you continue to commit, even though you know it's a sin? Would you go to someone with whom you have had a long-standing disagreement and try to straighten it out? Would you fall on your knees as did Hezekiah, and ask the Lord to extend your life? Would you try to explain to God why you shouldn't be allowed to die today?

God is in control. We need to remember that fact every day. Though it is true that nothing can harm you or cause your death unless God allows it; it is also true that He will allow it one day. Death is coming. Are you ready to meet the Lord? I urge you to get your life in order for soon you will face the Lord in death. Again I ask; "Are you ready?"
