Am I A Nicodemus?
Nicodemus was a member of the Sanhedrin court, the high court of the land. He came to speak with Jesus after darkness had fallen. He was likely afraid of being seen by those who knew him; afraid of what they would think of him if they saw him with Jesus.
Jesus had been performing many miracles and drawing a large crowd. Nicodemus' fellow leaders were jealous of the attention Jesus was getting. They wanted to turn Him away. Yet Nicodemus knew there was something special about this One who called Himself the Savior. What if He really was Messiah? Nicodemus had to find out.
So, one night, Nicodemus approached Jesus in the darkness. During the conversation, Jesus told him he would have to be born again, (John 3). 3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.[a]”
4 “How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!”
5 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. 7 You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”
9 “How can this be?” Nicodemus asked.
Have you also asked this question? How is it possible that one could be cleansed from all sins- sins of the past? Sins of today? How can it be done?
God laid out a plan before time began for you to be saved from those sins. It will cost you nothing. But is cost Jesus His life! His body, His blood; all that He had! But He is calling you! Will you come to Him? Receive Him now; right now! Ask the Lord to come into your life and forgive your sins. Like Jesus, like all of the disciples, come to the waters of baptism, Be washed in the blood of Jesus. Be forgiven! It's your choice! Will it be heaven or hell? It's your choice to make! Come to Jesus today! By the way- Nicodemus made the right choice. He, like Jesus, is waiting for you in heaven right now.
