In As Much......
When our Lord gave instructions to those first disciples about what they, (and we) should do fulfill His plan for us, He said to them, "Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me," (Matt 25:40).
If Jesus knocked on your front door today; what would you do for Him? I imagine any Christian would do anything we thought the Lord wanted; right?
With that thought in mind, why would we do any less for "the least of these, my brothers and sisters"?
I believe when we get to heaven, when we have all knowledge, we will realize how much of our time and talent was wasted on non-essential things like pleasing ourselves instead of serving others. It was the devil who implanted selfishness into our lives. Now, instead of serving God and others, we serve ourselves first.
I am reminded of some folk I once knew. They were always first to the buffet at the church gathering to feed themselves before the widows and the elderly. Shame on them! Feeding their own lusts before allowing the elderly widows and children to be first.
The brother of Jesus, (James), said, "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world," (1:28). Brethren, let's remember those words and live by them. "In as much as you did it to the least of these my brethren, you did it unto me!" (Jesus).
