Are You Certain?

Perhaps sometime during your life, someone has asked you that question; "Are you certain about that?" Sometimes when you are asked that question, the asker wants to imply that he is not certain of your belief. The question, in this case, would be intended to cause you to re-examine your fact to be sure of them.

When you pray, are you certain God is listening? Do you believe He will answer your prayer? If you aren't sure; how do you get to the point of certainty?

I am certain that when Jesus prayed, He believed HIs Father both heard and would answer His prayer. In fact, Jesus had to be careful not to pray for certain things, because if He did pray them, God would answer, and that answer would change history.

An example of that is found in Matthew 26.

Jesus Arrested

47 While he was still speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, arrived. With him was a large crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests and the elders of the people. 48 Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them: “The one I kiss is the man; arrest him.” 49 Going at once to Jesus, Judas said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” and kissed him.

50 Jesus replied, “Do what you came for, friend.”[d]

Then the men stepped forward, seized Jesus and arrested him. 51 With that, one of Jesus’ companions reached for his sword, drew it out and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.

52 “Put your sword back in its place,” Jesus said to him, “for all who draw the sword will die by the sword. 53 Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels? 54 But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way?”

Jesus couldn't allow the crucifixion to be stopped. If He would have called out to His Father, and if the Father sent twelve legions of angels to deliver Him from certain death on the cross, you and I wouldn't be saved right now! Jesus was certain about that! Jesus had faith to pray for certain things, and not to pray for others. Be careful what you ask in Jesus' name! We must not pray out of His will. First let the Holy Spirit guide your prayer, then have faith that God heard and will answer. Because He will!
