There is a Way....

On what do you base your decisions? I think we make them based on our experience and on the atmosphere in which we grew up. Then someone, like a teacher, or some influential person in our lives may have taught us their version of right and wrong. We may have been taught that what is right for us is also right for everyone else, but that is not always the case.

Once there was an old country song that claimed, "If loving you is wrong, I don't want to be right." The premise of the song was an adulterous affair. Many people, I'm sure, heard that song and justified their own life's mistakes on those lyrics. According to the Lord's bible, an adulterous affair is never right no matter how right it may seem at the time.

Still, some will try to justify something they surely know in their heart is wrong because it will please someone else. It may be the trendy thing to do, or it may seem adventurous. But right will always be right and wrong will always be wrong. It is wrong to hurt innocent people, based only on our own preferences.

We have an important election coming soon. This is our chance as Christians to demonstrate the principles of Christ by the way we choose to vote. Before marking that ballot, each of us should think for a moment that a record is being kept in heaven of what we are doing.

Last Sunday, we studied Lazarus and the rich man, (Luke 16:19-31). The rich man had everything he needed while on earth and innocent Lazarus had nothing. A case could be made that the rich man caused the death of Lazarus by not providing life sustaining gifts from his own abundance. But when time for judgement came, Lazarus had everything and the rich man inherited hell for eternity.

If it is wrong, then it can't be right no matter what the song says. Please prayerfully consider what God says is right when you vote. Some time in eternity, you will be so happy if you made your decision based on what God has said. But rest assured, we will all be called to account for our decisions made while on earth, whether or not it was the popular thing to do according to our friends and culture. There is a way that seems right to man but the ends thereof are destruction.
