So What Will You Do?

Most Christians waste a lot of time wondering what it is a Christian is supposed to do. Even though we go to church, and we occasionally attend special meetings with the determination to find our own Christian path, we sometimes have some problems locating what we believe to be God's will. After all, we should do more than just attending Sunday morning services if we expect to please the Lord.

In John 14:12 Jesus gave us a clear mandate, 12 "Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father." Many Christians sort of skip passed verses like this because they think Jesus may have meant that we should raise the dead or something great like that! But Jesus was speaking of something more important than a current miracle!

What works could we do that would surpass the works that Jesus did? Since Jesus was returning to the Father, he left you and me to continue his work here on earth. That means we are to continue his ministry. The miracles he performed were not only for the sake for the person upon whom the miracle was performed. The miracle was intended to demonstrate who Jesus was- and still is! Our Savior! God in the flesh!

We may not be able to heal the sick or raise the dead, (though I do believe God still performs miracles), but we can tell someone about our Savior and what he can still do for them. If we can take our Bibles and guide someone to eternal life, we have done a greater work than healing a sick person or temporarily raising someone from the dead.

So go out there today and perform a miracle! Guide someone to eternal life!
