It Doesn't Make Any Sense; or Does It?

Early in the 20th century, a priest rescued a four year old boy from drowning, saving his life. That four year old grew up to be notorious. His name was Adolf Hitler! Would it have been better if the priest had not been present to save the child who would one day become a demented, vicious man who would murder up to 20,000,000 people through his misguided Third Reich?

A child died in an auto accident. Why did it happen? She was only a child who never hurt anyone; perhaps she never would have. Yet, in the plan of the Master, it was allowed. Why?

A young mother took her child to a neighbor. She said, "I'll only be a few minutes." She went back home and committed suicide. Did it have to happen? The hearts of everyone who knew her were broken. Why?

Jesus didn't give us the answer to all of life's many problems, but He did make a statement that pertains to all the pain associated with living in this world. He said, "I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world!" (John 16:33). When Jesus said, "I have told you these things;" what was He talking about?

In the verses prior to His promise, He told the disciples of the necessity of Him being crucified and leaving them for a season. He said, "In a little while you will see Me no more, and then after a little while you will see Me, (John 16:19). He added verse 20, "You will grieve but your grief will be turned into joy." Further, Jesus promised to hear and speak plainly to His disciples in the future.

We don't have the a clear answer yet about the pain and problems associated with living here on earth right now, but they will be made clear to us in the future. Rest in Jesus! He will guide all of us who trust in Him.
