A Bitter Root

In Ephesians 4:31-32 (NIV), the word of God says, "Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you."

If you only had five hours to live; how would you spend the time? Many people would actually use the time trying to get even with someone for something that person may have done years ago. Sometimes we get so tied up in a feeling, we just cannot let it go. Yet, it asked if we are a Christian, the answer would be, "Yes".

How can this be? It isn't the plan of our heavenly Father for us to be consumed by unforgiveness. In Colossians 1:13-14 we read, "For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins."

So we've been rescued from the dominion of darkness, which is where unforgiveness originates. Not only have we been saved from it, but we are to practice what has been given to us, by passing it along to others who need to be rescued. When we don't forgive others, we are being blocked from doing the full will of God by the root of unforgiveness.

Examine your heart right now! Is there someone, or some thing you haven't yet forgiven? Don't allow the "wall" of unforgiveness to stop your daily walk with Christ through the world.
