Fear Not

Why do we fear so many things? Oh yes, we all fear something; it isn't just you! The Bible says in at least 80 places that we should fear not! And God said in Is 43:1, "Don't fear for I have redeemed you, I have called you by my name; you are mine!" God actually commands us not to fear or worry.

The enemy uses our fears to intimidate us and to cause us to worry which is the opposite of faith. Satan would destroy not only your life but your soul as well if he could, but God won't allow it. So why do we still fear?

I think we don't fear that God will fail us, as much as we feel we will fail God. Fear causes us to buckle and settle for less than God's best. It will cause us to disobey after diluting our trust in Him, and even when we try to stay strong, it'll rob us of our peace and joy. Here are some Scriptures to help you overcome fear.

Deut 31:8, "He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged."

When you are going through an emotional or situational challenge, picture the Lord saying those words from Deuteronomy just to you personally. Take heart and know that He is God. He will never leave you nor forsake you.

Romans 8:28, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose."

So much fear is based on the wrong assumption, that when we've made a mess of it, it's too late for God to help. God not only calms and corrects minor things, but blatant disobedience as well. When we take our eyes off ourselves and any other object of fear and turn them toward Jesus, we will see our Lords embrace of our live and feel His forgiveness.

Don't fear! God is with us! He never fails!
