Instead of our regular Bible study tonight and next Wednesday, we're providing times for our ministry teams to meet. Many of you filled out surveys for us listing your gifts and interests, so we want to give you a chance to make the connections you need to use those gifts here at RSCC.
And believe me, everyone has a gift of some kind, a special spiritual blessing given by God for the advance of His kingdom on earth. And at the risk of sounding needy or desperate, you church needs you to use those gifts and graces. First Corinthians 12 explains it by using the analogy of a body. If God made you an eye, an ear or a foot, how can the body of Christ, the Church, see, hear, or walk without you? Every part of the body is necessary for it to function properly. Every spiritual gift given by God is needed in a local congregation.
The Parable of the Talents is also instructive here. If God has given you a gift, but you do not use it as He asks, two things happen. First He takes it away and gives it to someone else who will use it. Second you face judgment for your disobedience and waste (Matthew 25:14-30). I don't want either of those things to happen to anyone in our church, especially not on my watch. Come to the team meetings tonight and next Wednesday; get connected; work for the glory of God and the salvation of souls -- after all, that's why we do what we do.
"The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field" (Matthew 9:37-38).
